What to expect
Your skin will be cleansed before the procedure begins. A surgical scalpel is held at a 45-degree angle and stroked along the skin in short, feathering motions. The treatment is painless and most clients find it very relaxing.
Aftercare
Your skin may appear slightly pink immediately after treatment — this usually subsides within a few hours. Avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 30+ for at least a week after treatment. Avoid exfoliating products for 5–7 days.
Frequently asked questions
Will my hair grow back thicker?
No. This is a common myth. Vellus hair (peach fuzz) is very different from terminal hair. Dermaplaning will not change the structure, colour or growth rate of your hair.
How often should I have dermaplaning?
Every 4–6 weeks is recommended, as this is the natural skin cell turnover cycle.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Dermaplaning is generally suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. However, it is not recommended for active acne, rosacea or very sensitive skin conditions. A consultation will determine suitability.
